Mr. Beaty is President of YUNEV LLC, where he consults and advises corporations, institutional investors, startups, and other privately held firms. Previous clients include Michelin and the Rocky Mountain Institute among others. Prior to forming YUNEV, Mr. Beaty held a series of executive, technology and business leadership roles at CALSTART, Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN), Woodward Controls (NASDAQ: WWD), and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI).
His innovative design record includes building teams and leading award-winning programs in the areas of advanced powertrain and controls and new product development. His leadership results are considerable, with an impressive track record of successful and profitable product introductions, new partnerships, and growing business models. Under his leadership, strategic businesses within Eaton, Woodward and SwRI experienced profitable growth resulting from Mr. Beaty’s skills in commercializing new technology and building collaborative partnerships with leading global Truck/Bus/Engine OEMs, Tier 1 Suppliers and Fleet customers.
He served as a founding and executive board member of both the 21st Century Truck Partnership (U.S. DOE) and the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (www.NACFE.org). Mr. Beaty’s product focus is on New Mobility Technology – including extensive experience with advanced powertrains and controls for commercial vehicles (trucks and buses) including electric (EV/BEV), hybrid (HEV/PHEV/Hydraulic), and natural gas (CNG/LNG/NGV). His broad management experience spans the entire business cycle from strategic planning and R&D, to product and business development, strategic sourcing and operations.
Mr. Beaty has been invited to speak at numerous industry events around the globe (including multiple times at the U.S. National Academy of Science). He has published a number of technical, peer-reviewed papers and is inventor/co-inventor of 8 US Patents. His work has received awards and recognition from industry and academia (including case studies by both Stanford and Harvard universities). He and the programs he has led have been written about in leading business and trade publications (e.g., Fortune, Forbes, Financial Times, Business Week, CNBC, New York Times, Good Morning America, MotorWeek, Design News, Ward’s Auto and others).
Kevin holds a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Masters of Business Administration from Michigan State University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has been a Registered Professional Engineer with the State of Texas as well as an active member of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) throughout his career.
